Just Saw The Doctor

Hello All,

The doctor came in minutes ago to tell us that all went well. All of the endo has been removed but JB will be on the L.upron for one more month. He wants her to stay on it to prevent a recurrence. Because of the L.upron treatment the endo was dry and easier to remove. He put i.nterceed wherever he found the endo. He removed (not drained) the cysts. He also removed three fibroids.

The stitches will dissolve and JB can begin treating the scar immediately.

Soon after yesterday's post, JB stopped hitting the PCA button less frequently and was soon able to sit up. She was moving around quite well. JB had solids for dinner and all the tubes were disconnected. She took t.ylenol th.rees but they weren't that effective. She was switched to o.xycontin. From about 4:00 this morning on, huge gas pain started. Pain killers do nothing for that. She went for a long walk around the floor this morning and then slept for an hour and a half.

JB is feeling better now and gearing up for a shower.

The doctor seems quite hopeful about our chances.

Thanks for all your Prayers. They are deeply appreciated.

JB's trying to keep up with your blogs but the reading is tough.

Thanks,

Mr. JB

  8. I am sooooo excited everything went so well!!! What a relief!!

Are you sure she's on oxycontin?? That is like the strongest pain killer available- given to dying cancer patients and such... did you mean oxycodone? If she's on the 1st, you may want to ask to get her on something else stat, because they're REALLY strong and highly addictive. Sorry to be so anal about it, but if she were to start taking her LDN again with any of the oxycontin still in her system, it could cause a huge problem...

  11. Team JB-- good news! I imagine it's ghastly now, but how wonderful that everything is cleared out and you are on the road to recovery and total healing! yea!

Mr JB-- you're the best for updating the bloggers. THanks!

re: meds I am pretty sure oxycontin is one of the name brands for ocycodone. And I think it's related to percocet, or maybe the same thing? Anyway, my husband was on a morphine derivative two weeks ago when he broke he femur. Then they put him on percocet as the "lighter" pain-killer before he went home. I recall seeing oxyco..something on the label. The percocet was WAY better than the morphine. He did not have any side-effects other than constipation (which could be pretty bad after abdominal surgery, come to think of it), and was able to easily transition off of it. I think the next step "down" the painkiller ladder is vicodin.

I learned all this two weeks ago with my husband in the hospital, so I'm certainly no expert.

  13. Great news, JBs! A bummer about the gas (and the Lupron--but only one more month!) but I hope as you feel able to get up and move, it will ease.

I'll be thinking about both of you and hoping JB gets to go home soon.

  14. Glad to hear everything went well. Tell JB not to be surprised if she feels pain in her shoulder. This is due to the dissipation of the gas they used during surgery and is normal. I had it following my fibroid surgery. It seems to find it's way up.

Oxycontin is one of the brand names for Oxycodone. Oxycodone can be combined with inert binders (Oxycontin) or acetaminophen (Percocet) and others to give you the various different drugs we get prescribed. I doubt they'll keep her on it for a long period before they drop her back to the T3s.

    Good luck with recovery.

  17. YAY for being endo free!! Sorry it took me so long to get over here to comment. It didn't help that I finally get home to stable internet just in time for blogspot to be hacked!

Just keep walking as much as possible and take all the pain meds that you need. And make them give you laxatives sooner rather than later if needed. Sorry but someone had to say it!! ;o) You're in our prayers!
