An anniversary...

One year ago, I was just coming to in a hospital room in Omaha. The extent of my laparotomy was barely sinking in and I was in rough shape.

The first night in the hospital involved intense itching (from the antibiotic that I was given) and a blood transfusion -- which I was not happy about, although I could barely articulate why.

I didn't expect to still be childless, one year later. And I am trying not to dwell on the disappointment.

I made plans, and God did laugh.

But He also has lead us down a new path.

Thank you again for all of you support and prayers. One day, I hope soon, I will be able to look back and see why our Lord has chosen this particular road for us.

All Saints, pray for us!

  3. It's been a year already since your Omaha surgery? wow...time does pass by quickly. Whew. I know it's tough to think about what you don't have...but you are now much healthier and exploring a new route of becoming a family with children. I know I have to keep reminding myself that one of the biggest reasons I went for another surgery was to be healthier.

  5. You know, as I was reading this post, it made me think back to where I was a year after my Lap with Dr. Hilgers. It took us six months t conceive after that surgery on 9/13/08 and that conception happened nine years after our our first miscarriage. We were elated, then totally devasted with the craziness of suffering and nearly dying with the rupture of an ectopic pregnancy. So, on my one year anniversary of surgery we were just getting the ok to ttc again, minus one fallopian tube. Only faith led us to keep being open to God's will in tht next year and by his grace we became parents to Joseph 27 months after my lap! I hope that in the next year God make you and your husband parents either through the amazing gift of adoption or natural conception. Either way, you two will be the best parents!!! Our prayers continue for you! Isn't those surgery memories the worst? It was clearly the most painful experience I have ever endured. I still remember trembling and crying taking steps for the first time after surgery!
