Gobsmacked

I shouldn't have gotten out of bed this morning.

I have a killer headache.

I was nauseous.

But I'm attending a big reading conference so I had to drag my sorry self to the city.

I get a text from my best friend from elementary school. We don't text often, so I was surprised.

I assumed that she was going to tell me that she got engaged. She's been shacking up with her boyfriend and I thought it was the next step.

She did get engaged.

And she's pg.

It was like a punch in the face.

Yet again.

I am trying my best to hold it together, but I want to curl into a ball and cry.

    Oh JB, I am so sorry. I was hoping this post was the announcement of your pg! I would have felt horribly gobsmacked as well if I would have gotten a text like that. Doubling up the prayers for you today!

    Oh Hun, that's such a hard thing to Handle, especially when your in public and are forced to keep it together. I hope you get home soon.

    There are so many advice columns written.."how do I tell my friend struggling with infertility that I'm pregnant?" The answers are usually, "oh it's not a zero sum game! She'll be happy for you!"

    So what's the real answer, when you feel up to giving it. How is it best to break this sort of news?

    Ugh. I'm so sorry. That kind of announcement hurts worse than when you kind of expect it. I know it is late in the day, but if it is a BYO Wine kind of event, I'd say sneak some in. And drink some tonight. I'll be praying for you. (((HUGS)))

    Wow. I am just catching up over here. I can TOTALLY see how this would be so utterly painful.

    It definitely seems as though folks who shoul not get pregnant often do, over and over again.
