New Year's Eve

For every teacher the night before the first day of school must feel like New Year's Eve.

I'm feeling remarkably relaxed.

I went to yoga at noon.

Had a tasty lunch of leftover duck confit.

Watched a couple of Harry Potter movies (Mr JB read the entire series this summer!).

And now that I'm ready for the morning I'm feeling a bit of denial that my two glorious months off are done.

I don't know what to expect this year. I know that it won't be as wonderful as my class last year. I know that I have challenges with parents and a couple of kids.

I'm one sleep away from starting my eleventh in a classroom.

Amazing. Just amazing.

p.s. Thank you so much for all of your prayers for my kitty cat. My crazy mother is going to call the vet in a couple of weeks to have her assessed. I reminded her that putting her down may not be the option that we're given, and she seemed to listen, but I never know with her.

p.p.s. The above photo was taken on my way home from my yoga studio. There's a school bus depot close by and all the busses seemed to be parked on the street!

  3. How fun! I always loved when I was a kid and the new school year started. Fresh school supplies and new clothes and crisp fall air (not so crisp here now; in the 100's, ugh). Sometimes I wish I could go teach. It seems it would be fun. Have a great year!

  5. Best of luck today! I think if I were going back to teaching, yoga, a tasty meal, and Harry Potter would be an awesome way to spend my last day before the school year. Good choices!

  6. I've never been a full-time teacher, but as a student, I LOVED the first day of school! So exciting! I am sure your kids will be lucky to have you as your teacher this year. :)

  8. Have a great year...I can honestly say I don't miss that beginning of year craziness. School has started out here already. That's great that your mom cares enough about the cat to have her assessed.

    1. Hey lady - where are you?! I am concerned that you have vanished off the face of the earth. Please check in and let us know that you're still alive! (I know, I know, I vanish for a while sometimes. But you are more reliable than I am.)

  10. Hello, I did not know how to get ahold of you except in the comments section. I check your blog out often as I have had infertility ever since I have been married for 4 years. I just wanted to tell you what helped me finally get pregnant. I hope maybe someday soon the same for you! I have seen Napro docs most of the time even Dr. HIlgers himself. I got pregnant twice but it ended in miscarriage both times, even with progesterone. My Napro doc then said that my ovulation may not be quite right even though I ovulated by myself. I tried Clomid about 5 cycles even, but it made things even more wacky. The RE I went to had my try Follistim. It monitored by ultrasounds because I had many follicles develop, but after a VERY small dose I had 2 follicles form. I got pregnant on the 2nd cycle. I really belive that if you have tried this long it would be great to see a Reproductive Endocrinologist. My NAPRO dr even said so to me. I am strongly Catholic and yes, the RE's can be dangerous and recommend things like IVF and Selective reduction. But I stood firm in what I could do and not do within the Catholic faith. It was almost like being a witness to them in their office. I am 9 weeks pregnant with twins now. I really hope the best for you and wanted to tell you about this and let you decide what is best for you. God bless!
