I'm going to try an experiment.
I have no idea if it is going to work, but I need to try.
I'm going to think positively.
That's it.
I have too many negative people around me. Instead of commiserating with them I will try to reroute the conversation to something more positive or I will try to get out of it (I'm pretty good at being passive-aggressive).
I am also going to try and focus on what I have, not what I don't.
Let's see:
- I have a job that I love and am well-compensated for
- I have a lovely home
- I have a loving, supportive husband,
- I have many supportive friends
- I am mostly healthy
That's a start.
I can see what a negative attitude can do to a person (i.e. my new teaching partner who's attitude is that EVERYTHING is horrible and that everyone is out to get her). I do not want to be that person.
Let's see how long this lasts.
p.s. Please pray for my friend's mom. She was just diagnosed with cancer and the prognosis doesn't look good. She's going to see a top-notch specialist in the city in the next week or so. This news has come completely out of the blue and the family are quite devastated.
I really hope that thinking positively helps you feel better and get out of the slump you've been in lately. Praying for your friend's mom.
ReplyDeleteGood for you-it is the perfect time of year to count your blessings! I had a friend who used to say that friends are like elevators and can bring you up or down. I think it is great that you are working on focusing on the positive, to bring yourself up and others around you. I enjoy reading your blog.
ReplyDeleteGreat outlook! :)
ReplyDeleteThe cleaning out your refrigerator soup idea was great! I'm doing that right now! My eyes are bigger then my stomac at the grocery store. So it's chicken vegetable soup! I won't tell the ingredients! I'm not sure I ever made soup like this before! :)
Sew, your soup can't be any crazier than mine!
ReplyDeleteHere's what I threw in:
potatoes
kale
carrots
green beans
taco meat
shepherd's pie
sauce from chicken we had last week
chicken bouillon
mushrooms
I'm glad that it turned out okay!
I am sorry about your Moms friend, that really sucks.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you're moving on over to the positive side, let's gte together again soon i have a great book for you (conquering inferitlity) it really changed my life.
I try to be positive most of the time, not always easy, but, really we both have so much to be grateful for, just being healthy is such a blessing (my defintion of healthy is now one that means I am not lying in hospital wondering about dying - anything up from that is healthy).
hugs.
love the positive thinking!!!
ReplyDeleteprayers for your friend's mom...
Umm, your soup sounds interesting. . .
ReplyDeleteGood for the positive!
YES, think positively, I am sure it will do wonderful things for you and your body, and keep you from becoming like your debbie downer work mate.
ReplyDeleteI will pray for your friends mother!
